FASHION ODE: AHHHHHH Push it………………

Hey HAWTies Hey,

Its been a minute since we’ve done a FASHION ODE here at MH. SO I wanted to jump-start it up again with the women that inspired this category in the first place. Salt n Peppa, YES HAWTies the best female TRIO EVER!!!! If you don’t know who they are then I am SMH at both you & I (LOL) WELL LET ME LIGHT WEIGHT BUZZ YOU IN. Salt-N-Pepa is an American hip hop trio from Queens and Brooklyn, New York, that was formed in 1985. The group, consisting of Cheryl James, Sandra Denton and Deidra Roper, was one of the first all-female rap crews.They came out bust’n they freestyles & FREE STYLE!!! They stayed pushing the envelope in the style department every time we seen them. Honestly I wanted to dress like them on so many occasions its ridiculous!!!! That’s why I had to honor the GROUP the best way I know how…………..FASHION ODE.

An ODE is

  1. A lyric poem in the form of an address to a particular subject, often elevated in style or manner and written in varied or irregular meter.
  2. A poem meant to be sung.

But I like to think a FASHION ODE is

  1. A  picture poem in the form of expression of gratitude & addressing FASHION/ STYLE. Often due to elevated STYLE.
  2. A picture meant to be inspiration.

This is a look that will be known forever!! The Spandex jumpsuit with the leather bomber. I would rock this look today NO LIE, but with a lil twist of course!! They had the sex appeal with a lil hardness…………

They also brought us A symmetrical hair cuts. My moms even rocked this style….I have the pics!!! LOL But it has made its way back around & the HAWTies are WERK’n this style today!!

Salt N Pepa

Always Fashion ICONS!!!! They can go from around the way girls to sophisticated women to all the points in between. Even though they’ve been outta the spot light they still remain Fashion ICONs in my book. They have inspired many of HAWTies & future ones as well….. watch those spandex jumpsuits come back in full effect!!!!!

Hey HAWTies Hey,

I know I’ve been MIA for a minute now & we have much to catch up on!!! But for now let’s get into our first FASHION ODE of the month, every Wednesday we will be showcasing a different person, style or trend that has made an impact. Some of these FASHION ODE’s should inspiring & others may be HFF but its all in fun in the name of Fashion & Style.

Our first FASHION ODE of April goes out to the Diva of the Muppet Word, The one the only …………………………………

Miss Piggy! Yes HAWTies, LOL! Miss Piggy is described as a Prima-donna pig, but you must admit she is the most fashionable & stylish pig/muppet you’ve ever seen. For you HAWTies not to familiar with Miss Piggy, she is an icon to be F’ed with, she is the soul of feminine charm, but she can instantly fly into a violent rage whenever she thinks she’s insulted or thwarted! She started off as a chorus singer on the Muppet show but quickly became the leading lady after her distinctive personality caught the attention of viewers. She became more than a one joke gag & turned into an actress, singer, Plus-Size fashion editor, perfume maker & Icon.  And yes as a child watching her on the muppet show  & movies, I wanted a few of her diva outfits! RIP Aaliyah Dana Haughton

Hey HAWTies, today marks a full decade since Aaliyah Dana Haughton died at 22 after a horrific Bahamian plane crash. I can remember that day like it was yesterday…………. I was sitting on my couch pregnant watching my 2 year old son (don’t judge me) , Not sure if i was watching the news or 106 & park but when I heard the tragic news about her death, I started to cry instantly. Its crazy how you don’t have to know the person to feel grief, she touched people that deeply with her music. My son looked at me then back at the TV then ran to me & started crying as well, that instantly made me smile but the pain of her leaving this world that way still hurt me, not only for her, but for her family her moms. How can you deal! My heart still goes out to her family.

I would like to honor Miss AAliyah today with a Fashion/Talent Ode, she was more than just a singer, she was a great dancer, song writer & actress, she started that tomboy swag!!!! Remember her rock’n Tommy Hilfiger, please don’t act like you wasn’t rock’n that ish back n the day too LOL LOL. Then she switched up the game as she got older & brought on the sexiness out on us.She was most def a game changer, who could rock that side swoop like her. I used to go crazy in high school trying to get my hair to lie like that MAN she will be truly missed by more than many.

Happy HUMP day HAWTies, Ive been a little busy with school starting back for my boys & then feeling a little under the weather as well as planning a baby shower for my BFF so I’m being a little lazy with this post LOL & do a fashion ODE. This is where I pick a person or style that stood out in fashion land. I started this segment off with Salt n Pepa, but today I’m going to go with……………………………

Diana Ross, she has been kill’n em since the 60′s til today!!!! She deserves to be on the Fashion ICON Ode don’t you think HAWTies. This phenomenal woman has blazed us with many of hits & even more hairstyles & fashion, she has done music, films & Broadway on top of being mother this lady is the ISH ( in my Dream voice) Check her out HAWTies.
